Look below. Yes, those are flags made out of food.
TODO Austin is a fantastic publication here in Austin that focuses on the city’s multicultural community. For the July issue, the focus was on fusion foods, so the talented Kathy Phan and I brainstormed ideas for the cover, and came up with this. We spent a morning making these flags out of food and then took photos and wound up with this for the cover.
I think it looks quite fantastic.. although I’m not sure I would actually eat any of those flags. Black olives, pesto and mustard? No thanks.
I FINALLY did one of the things that has been on my to-do list ever since moving back to Austin. Go to the downtown farmer’s market. Saturday morning is usually such a perfect day to sleep in for me, not have to worry about being anywhere at a certain time… and of course the farmer’s market is on Saturday morning. But we went, this Saturday. And I think I now have a reason to get up early on Saturdays.
It has been a long time since I went to Perla’s. To be fair, I’ve only been once. But I keep meaning to go back. And I know when I finally do, it will be fantastic.
Outtakes from a cover shoot I did the photography on and the wonderful Kathy Phan did the styling for. I’ll share the actual cover very very soon.
Mmmmm… spaghetti and mustard and bbq sauce. Delicious.
Last Saturday my parents and I decided to take a little road trip out to Fredricksburg. I had driven through a few times on road trips, but had never stopped, and they had never been. I also hadn’t traveled out of Austin since mid-April, so this seemed like an awesome little road trip/vacation with my parents. Here’s the first round of photos, more to come!
