If you are friends with me on twitter or facebook, you may have seen me talking about a mysterious package I received on Tuesday and how I didn’t know what it could be. Well.. I picked it up yesterday, and inside was a copy of the August issue of Austin Monthly!

Every month the magazine features a different restaurant in their food section, and I took the photos for this month’s article about Cho Sushi (which btw.. is very very tasty). I’m excited about all the photos they used, and as a really great surprise, they used one of them in the table of contents section at the front of the magazine!

Portfolio Redo!

It’s time. I’ve been working on my new portfolio sections for weeks, and it’s finally time to reveal them!

What’s changed? I added new sections to my portfolio (which also means new photos!) that weren’t there previously, and I redid them so instead of scrolling horizontally, you just click the “next” button at the top.

I also added a “projects” and “tearsheets” section. Although I have been working on those, neither are complete and so those are coming early August. I promise. Early August = before August 15th. :)

So click around, enjoy! I tried to QA everything, but if you notice a crazy link that isn’t going anywhere, or something isn’t working for you, let me know!

The Getty and an Upcoming Portfolio Redo

I’ve been working on my new website portfolio over the last couple of weeks. I’m breaking everything up into brand new sections! In doing so, I’ve been going back through a lot of older photos and have found some that I really love and am including, but have never shared on the website before.

Here’s a sneak peek of one going into the architecture section. This is the Getty Center in Los Angeles.

Josh and I were driving around East Austin on Saturday afternoon and decided to get a late lunch at El Chilito. And some pineapple agua fresca. Mmmmm… tasted like snow cone syrup. So yummy.

TODO Austin July Cover

Look below. Yes, those are flags made out of food.

TODO Austin is a fantastic publication here in Austin that focuses on the city’s multicultural community. For the July issue, the focus was on fusion foods, so the talented Kathy Phan and I brainstormed ideas for the cover, and came up with this. We spent a morning making these flags out of food and then took photos and wound up with this for the cover.

I think it looks quite fantastic.. although I’m not sure I would actually eat any of those flags. Black olives, pesto and mustard? No thanks.

Downtown Farmer’s Market

I FINALLY did one of the things that has been on my to-do list ever since moving back to Austin. Go to the downtown farmer’s market. Saturday morning is usually such a perfect day to sleep in for me, not have to worry about being anywhere at a certain time… and of course the farmer’s market is on Saturday morning. But we went, this Saturday. And I think I now have a reason to get up early on Saturdays.
