1 – The punch. So good, I had two glasses.

2 – The decor. Simply wonderful.

3 – Crystal and Justin. So adorable, so chic.

4 – Me and Josh. We never seem to get the posing thing down. Maybe one day.

5 – Tasty drinks. And look at that rim! Yum.

6 – East Coast oysters. Love the brininess.

7 – Cheese plate. That mustard was way too good.

8 – Decor, decor, decor.

9 – Justin’s drink. I didn’t try it, but he got two, so I’m assuming it was good. :)

East Austin Studio Tour

Art. There is just something so great about it. One person can love something and be so inspired by it, while the next person can feel kinda meh about it. I think it’s so fantastic. It’s so personal, what speaks to you. It may remind you of something from your past, some dream, or just speak to your aesthetic.

This was made apparent to me as my husband and I wandered around the East Austin Studio Tour this weekend. There were things we both loved, some where he was clearly more interested than me and vise versa. We unfortunately only traveled to one location – Canopy.. but fortunately there were so many artists there that it made up for it!

One of my favorites was a quilter who was actually making a quilt based on people writing down their hometowns on scraps of fabric. One thing that was so striking to me was really how much Austin really has become a destination city. I was actually in the minority of people who wrote down their hometown as being from somewhere in Texas (Victoria, represent!). (Edited to add the fantastic quilter’s name – Gina Pina. Thanks to commenter Katie for letting me know who it was!)

Rainy Saturday

Sometimes a rainy, overcast day is just what you need. We’re certainly getting our fair share of rain today and we’re under a flash flood warning.

Plans for the day include drinking a lot of tea, snacking, cuddling with my dog, and maybe starting a book.

Recent Eats at Austin Java

Last week, Josh and I stopped by Austin Java downtown for a quick breakfast. Josh got the french toast and I think it may have been the best french toast I’ve ever tasted. OMG. So fluffy and sweet and wonderful. And look at that happy face!

Downtown Walking

Going for walks is one of my absolute favorite things to do. Last weekend we wound up heading from our house to downtown and walking around a bit.

San Antonio

We went to San Antonio two weekends ago and explored a bit of the Riverwalk and the area around the Alamo. Some of Josh’s family was in town, so took a little road trip and met my parents there and all walked around. It was such a nice day, though I was fighting a cold, so not quite as awesome as it could have been. I felt pretty terrible, but tried to enjoy everything since we don’t really visit San Antonio all that often, even though it is so close! The whole Riverwalk area is just so beautiful.
