I haven’t been eating out that much lately. I’ve been trying to be good about packing a lunch and also trying to do a lot of cooking at home. Living is Austin is unfortunately getting more expensive by the second and all that restaurant food (and drink) adds up!
But it’s fun to splurge now and again. Recently Josh and I headed to Red’s Porch for a weekend mid-day meal, and then some coworkers and I headed to Hopdoddy for the best burgers in Austin. Both well-worth the splurging!

One last Vienna post! As the sun was setting, we continued to walk around the city to get a different view. I absolutely adore cities at dusk, when the lights are starting to come on and the sun is disappearing from view. I miss Vienna and all it’s beauty. It’s a city I’d love to come back to and be able to spend more than 24 hours in next time!
My family is contemplating a trip to Fiesta Texas in San Antonio here soon. Which makes me think of being back in Vienna and being at Prater, which is a giant park and has an amusement park in it. Josh and I happened upon this park while walking around the city, and even though we didn’t ride any of the rides, we had so much fun walking around and seeing all the people out enjoying it. It definitely made me think of the Spassburg section (the German section) of Fiesta Texas.
What do you do on the hottest day of the year when it hits 104 in Austin? You find water.
But why should humans have all the fun? We set up a doggie playdate with Sydney and her friend Bess at Redbud Isle. The dogs had so much fun swimming and playing in the water. And us humans? We at least got our feet wet and tried to stay in the shade to keep cool!
I wanted to share the photos from the rest of our wedding day in Florence from back in May. One of the great things about having a noon ceremony is that you have the rest of the day to celebrate being married! After lunch with our family and friends, we parted ways with family to spend the rest of the afternoon and evening wandering around Florence with friends.
After a quick stop at their place to celebrate over a bottle of Prosecco, we headed out and wandered over to the Mercato Centrale, then had a delicious dinner next to San Lorenzo, and finally wandered around the streets to have late-night gelato.
