We spent our honeymoon on the island of Hvar in Croatia. This place was so beautiful, from the greenery to the beautiful blue water of the Adriatic. We explored the town on foot, and hiked up to the castle to view the town from high above. Oh, and what honeymoon isn’t complete without some time laying at the hotel pool? Here are photos from our stay —
Once we were able to board the ferry from Ancona over to Croatia, it was marvelous! And by marvelous, I mean interesting. We hung out in the giant lounge area and had super-cheap drinks. Then we had dinner in the restaurant on the ferry which was surprisingly decent. And SO MUCH FOOD. And then we headed off to our tiny cabin to get a good night’s sleep before waking up before 6am to pack up our stuff.. and arrive at this view in Croatia!
So many ferries. So much beautiful seawater.
Our Honeymoon traveling didn’t go exactly as planned.
What we expected: Leave Florence the day after the wedding on a train headed for Ancona, Italy. Arrive in Ancona with plenty of time, and board the overnight ferry to Croatia. Be in Croatia by Friday morning.
What actually happened: Leave Florence the day after the wedding on a train headed for Ancona, Italy. On the way to Ancona, train hits a bicyclist (so sad) crossing the tracks and train stops and gets delayed for several hours. Arrive in Ancona way after ferry departure time. Stay in Ancona overnight, sightsee in Ancona on Friday, and leave on a ferry for Croatia Friday evening (1 day behind schedule).
While this did derail our plans, we decided to approach it as an adventure. If our train hadn’t been delayed, we wouldn’t have gotten to spend the time in Ancona we did. While we were there, we walked around the sleepy city, relaxed at a cafe, and happened upon a car show.
Guys. Guys. An awesome thing happened recently. Noble Sandwiches opened up a more central location in Austin! For those of you who hated driving up to basically Cedar Park (like me), they now have a location on Burnet close to 45th street. Yay! Much easier to get to for a South Austinite like myself. Cedar Park people, don’t fear though, their 620 location is still there and going strong!
I did head to their 620 location last October to shoot some photos of their new menu. And how mouth-watering it is. Now that the central location is open, I must go for lunch (or breakfast) so soon. As in next week. Or this week.
Every day.. coffee and popovers. Go get it.
