So Memorial Day weekend didn’t go quite as planned, but I guess does anything ever? Not that my weekend was completely derailed, but I just had SUCH a fantastic Memorial Day weekend last year, and I expected this year’s to be just as magical.
I did manage to get a bunch of sleep, get some work done on the computer, see a movie, spend some time out on Lake Travis with friends, and see a girl (lady of the night??) at the grocery store wearing pink and purple glittery spandex. So still pretty fantastic.
A few weeks ago, I met up with two lovely ladies at Drink.Well. Such great food.. My favorite was the brussels sprouts. Yum! Great drinks, and great company.
Here are a few photos I snapped with my iphone:
I’m more of a snow cone girl than an ice cream girl. But after trying Lick, I think there is room for both snow cones and ice cream in my belly this summer.
Things I love about Lick:
1. Great, fresh, local ingredients
2. Their small gives you TWO scoops. So even with a small, you get to try out two different flavors if you like. So many places, a small is only one scoop. (Their medium is three scoops, and large is four scoops).
3. They let you taste flavors before ordering, if you want. So that carrot and tarragon you weren’t sure if you would like? Just try a small sample. This of course, can backfire when the girls in front of you wind up tasting a bunch of things and then wind up being unadventurous and ordering chocolate and vanilla. (btw.. the Caramelized Carrots and Tarragon ice cream was DELICIOUS).
Lick is on South Lamar just north of Oltorf. Dangerous for me.. it’s so close!
Okay, so I know Easter was almost a month ago.. so this may seem a bit out-of-date, but hey, I got busy. And then realized I never posted these.
I loooove dyeing easter eggs. Like REALLY love. It’s one of my favorite things to do all year. My mom is lovely enough to hard-boil a bunch of eggs beforehand, and then the Saturday night before Easter we have a dyeing fest! I mix all the colors together in bowls, and then we get crayons and draw on the eggs and then dye them. Sooo fun.
Here are some photos from the festivities this year:
