Apartment Therapy Meetup at House + Earth
Last Thursday, the lovely bloggers from Apartment Therapy in Austin held a gathering, and House + Earth on West 6th Street was nice enough to host us and provide a tour of their showroom (thanks Scott!!!). If you haven’t heard of House + Earth (and I hadn’t.. they just opened recently).. this is a place you should keep an eye on and visit!
They sell eco-friendly products for when you are building, remodeling, etc.. all sorts of stuff. I was super-impressed by the safe insulation made from denim, flooring they sell made from old wine casks and the cork options. I want the cork.. you’ll see it in the photos below. So much stuff.. too much to even talk about and remember. I wish I owned a home so I could buy a bunch of their stuff to remodel. BUT, they still have stuff for you if you are a renter. One thing especially is their line of eco-friendly cleaning products. Super-inexpensive, and you bring back your bottles for low-cost refills. Great for the environment as less plastic bottles end up in our landfills.
I could say SO much more about this place, but instead.. I’ll let my photos do the talking from here on out.
Lemon Tarts
Last week, Josh made mini lemon tarts. They were amazing. The meringue was incredible. So fluffy but creamy and light. A perfect compliment to the tartness of the lemon. I am not sure of the recipe, but OF COURSE he should make these again soon. So once he does, I’ll post here again with more photos and recipe!
Sunday Morning
More downtown Austin photos. Sunday mornings are so quiet down there. You can walk a few blocks without seeing anyone else, and when you do, it’s someone that looks like they are out getting coffee or a paper, and suddenly you remember people live downtown. And then you see someone else out walking their dog downtown. And that seems weird too.
And then you just walk, and take photos, and look up at the sky and take note of the interesting architecture you never noticed on a Saturday night when you were out meeting your friends.

The Long Center
Austin Downtown Streets
On Sunday mornings, downtown is peaceful, quiet. A couple of weeks ago, Josh and I took our puppy down there for a walk. Although we had to watch her very closely to make sure she didn’t try to eat all the cigarette butts littering every sidewalk after Saturday night, we all had a great time. I could have done it all day, but it was hot. SO hot.
