Austin Modern Home Tour – Part 1 01.30.

On Saturday, Josh and I met up with a couple of friends for the Austin Modern Home Tour. A great way to spend a Saturday… driving around to a bunch of different amazing homes and looking at all the details put into each house. Unfortunately, we didn’t make it to all of them. Just not enough time! But we did make it to quite a few. Here’s the first installment…

House 1:  Austin, Crestview Neighborhood
There were people living in this house, and they did not allow photography indoors. That was too bad, because it was a pretty cool space and they had some cool details. Very cool movie posters and lots and lots of cds and other media in bookshelves.

House 2:  Eastside, Near Mueller Development
This house was pretty neat. It was extraordinarily big, and I walked through room after room of cool details. It had little pops of red everywhere. Loved the little yard with the fountain. Loved the wine storage. Loved the big bathtub. Loved the spiral staircase. Loved the elevator. YES, elevator! Crazy. I did not ride it, but there was an elevator. I could never live in a house this big though. Too many places and rooms to lose stuff in.

House 3:  Eastside, near Greenwood and MLK
I really liked this house. It had a nice layout downstairs very cool light fixtures. The house did have a modern feeling, but without being over-the-top. It was a good size, and I could totally see myself living here. And I really really liked the staircase.

House 4:  Eastside Near MLK and Oltorf
Okay, this house was a little weird. The outside was a bit much, with the blue stripes. The inside could be a cool space, but you could tell they were still doing a lot of work to the place. I kinda hope it’s on the tour next year so I can see what progress has been made. Also, it was really cold. They didn’t have the heat on inside. We didn’t stay long for fear of numbness.

Wow. I wish I had gone on this tour, but alas, I had to work. :( That Mueller house is stunning! That thing over the tub looks like it would beam me up. :)

What is that crazy lady thing in the corner in the MLK house? Is that a sculpture of some kind?
